Summary
February’s contributions and activities focused heavily on politics and political analysis from the Middle East, Russia, Africa and Taiwan. Other commentary explored issues in the United States and their impacts on the national political sphere. This month, there was one book and one report, eleven newspaper articles, two television apperances and two radio broadcasts. Two faculty members engaged in three public presentations, sharing their research insights. Of especial note, S-CAR was named the ‘Number 1’ school for the study of conflict analysis and resolution.

Tatsushi (Tats) Arai, PhD ’05, was appointed a United Nations Senior Mediation Adviser.
Dhirendra Nalbo, PhD candidate, and Joseph Obeng-Baah PhD candidate, were awarded Spring 2018 PhD completion grants.
Diane Perlman, visiting scholar, was included in a list of 100 Living Peace and Justice Leaders: In Pursuit of Peace, Justice, & Common Good – 100 Living Peace and Justice Leaders (List #2).

Suzanne de Janasz, visiting faculty, and Dr. Bev DeMarr published a second edition of their text, Negotiation and Dispute Resolution published by the Chicago Business Press, February 2018.
Book Chapters
Terrance Lyons published a book chapter entitled “Peace Implementation and Quality Peace.” In Understanding Quality Peace: Peacebuilding after Civil War, 1st ed. It was 15 pages in length and published by Taylor and Francis, on February 9, 2018.
