The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution invites applications from students in the South Caucasus for a March 8-21, 2025 study visit at the Carter School in Virginia, just minutes away from Washington DC. Our program is designed to provide students with a unique and immersive educational journey, with a particular focus on the vital skills of negotiations, communications, media literacy, and narrative development among others. The program provides opportunities for the South Caucasus students to learn skills together with others from the South Caucasus region.
Here's what you can expect during your time at the Carter School:
During the two weeks of the study visit students will interact with graduate and undergraduate students, as well as our dedicated faculty and researchers from George Mason University.
We've curated an engaging lineup of experts and professionals who are actively shaping the landscape of think tanks and non-profit organizations in the D.C. area. Students will have an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, learn from their experiences, and gain insights that can shape their future work.
Beyond the classroom, students will have ample time to discover the rich history and culture of the Washington, D.C. area. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Library of Congress, the National Mall, Arlington Cemetery, the White House, the United States Supreme Court and many others.
Eligibility Criteria
The program welcomes applications from undergraduate and graduate students between the ages of 20 and 25 who are currently enrolled in academic programs in any area of the South Caucasus. English language proficiency is required.
Application Process
The application package includes the following mandatory elements:
- Online application form
- Short essay addressing all of the following areas: a) your interest in the program, b) your expectations from the program, and c) how you envision using the skills and knowledge you gain in the program. Minimum 750 words.
- Short bio or CV
- One recommendation letter
Application deadline is November 5th, 2024.
Short-listed candidates will be contacted for a Zoom interview which will be conducted in English in December/January.
