Dear Friends,
Today, we celebrate a momentous occasion: the 100th birthday of President Jimmy Carter, a leader whose life has been dedicated to peace, diplomacy, and the betterment of humanity. On behalf of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, I am honored to mark this incredible milestone and reflect on the profound impact President Carter has had on the world.
Throughout his life, President Carter has exemplified the values of compassion, service, and justice. His tireless efforts to promote human rights, resolve conflicts, and alleviate poverty have inspired generations of peacebuilders, and his enduring legacy continues to guide the mission of our school. We are privileged to carry his name and uphold his commitment to making the world a more just and peaceful place.
President Carter’s dedication to justice and peace has left an indelible mark on the world, and we are honored to carry his vision forward through our work at the Carter School. As we celebrate this significant milestone, we reflect on his unparalleled contributions to global peace and the lasting impact of his leadership on future generations
In celebration of this milestone, we are deeply honored to announce that the George Mason University Board of Visitors has voted to award President Carter an honorary doctorate. This prestigious recognition celebrates his lifelong dedication to peace, human rights, and education and solidifies his profound connection to our academic community. As an institution committed to advancing education and peace, we are privileged to have President Carter among our most esteemed honorees.
To join us in celebrations, we invite you to participate in a special digital birthday card for President Carter, where you can share your well-wishes and reflections on his legacy. This is a unique opportunity for our community to come together and express our collective gratitude for all he has done for peace and human rights.
The Carter School encourages the public to share their stories and memories of President Carter’s legacy using the hashtag #Carter100. Selected posts will be featured on the Carter School’s social media channels throughout October, offering a collective tribute to President Carter’s remarkable life and achievements.
Also, on Friday, October 4th, we will host an outdoor screening of the documentary “Rock N' Roll President” at Mason Square Plaza at 7:30 pm. This documentary offers a unique look at how music and culture intersected with President Carter’s leadership during his time in office. I encourage you to join us and experience a new perspective on a leader whose influence transcended traditional politics.
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the Carter School and our mission. As we celebrate President Carter’s 100th birthday, we are reminded that peace is not just a goal but a practice—a practice that requires dedication, collaboration, and hope. Together, we can continue to build on President Carter’s legacy, working toward a world where peace, justice, and equality thrive.
Happy 100th birthday, President Carter. Your life’s work continues to inspire us all.
